The Christmas holidays can be a very stressful time for different reasons for different people. If the thing that is causing you stress is the hectic pace of working, taking care of a family, shopping, baking, cleaning, entertaining ……… DELEGATE. Family members and friends are there for you – assign jobs to others and then LET IT GO. The jobs will get done and accept that they might not get done just as you would do it, but that’s okay. Your sanity and your usual cheerful self will be much appreciated by those you love rather than a stressed out bundle of nerves, right?
If the thing that is causing you stress is that you are alone, without support at Christmas time, GET INVOLVED. Volunteer wherever you can. Here’s a little secret – when you give your love and caring away it will come back to you in multiples. Also, while sharing your time with the less fortunate (there is always somebody in a darker place than you) a new appreciation for what you do have, fills your heart.
